Our Community Salutes of Northeast Ohio was formed in 2010 as a Federally Registered non-profit organization created to recognize and honor graduating high school seniors (and their parents) from Northeast Ohio who are enlisting in the Armed Services after graduation. Local citizens, business and community leaders, and Veterans’ organizations donate their time and money to support an annual Recognition Ceremony and Reception. This school year the 4th annual Recognition Ceremony will be held on May 7, 2014 at the Cleveland State University’s Student Center Atrium, Waetjen Auditorium and Ballroom in Cleveland.

In 2013, about 480 graduating seniors from within about a 1-hour driving distance from Cleveland, living in Ohio’s eight northeast counties, from over 95 cities and attending over 130 public, charter and private high schools volunteered to enlist after graduation. Each of these future Servicemen and women, their parents or guardians, their high school counselor and mayor, along with other citizens, Veterans and public leaders were invited to attend the Recognition Ceremony and Reception.

This year’s event, on May 7, 2014, at the Cleveland State University Student Center, 2121 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, will follow a similar model to honor the Class of 2014. Enlisting seniors, their parents/guardians, counselors, mayors, city leaders and citizens, please save this date to honor these outstanding men and women from within our communities.

Recognizing prior years’ public requests to attend and to pay tribute to these patriotic young Americans and their families, this year we will again open limited public “first come” seats to the Recognition Ceremony which will be from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. to support seating.

The College Fair and Service Support Program (4:30 to 6 p.m.) and post ceremony reception (7:45-9 p.m.) will be open only to enlisting seniors, their parents/guardians, high school counselors, mayors, sponsors and by-name invited guests.

All Our Community Salutes (OCS) organizations are independently run and financed by patriotic citizens within each community. They are not under any common parent company, are not joint ventures, and have no legal or management ties to one another. Each independent OCS group is completely responsible for all aspects of OCS fundraising, activities and events implemented within their respective communities.
